Are you frustrated with how you're using your time?

Do you feel like you have a lot to offer, but getting it out there feels like pushing a grapefruit through a keyhole?

Maybe you’ve got a plan and every time you go to execute it you find yourself scrolling videos on Facebook.

If these sound like you, I’ve got great news.

The “How We Present” is the course designed for shy, hardworking people who need more tools to get themselves and their message out there in the shortest amount of time and for the least amount of money.

How We Present

This is a live interactive course in 10 lessons over a 3 month term, joined by 12 people who are just like you.

We’ll go over various domains that prove difficult for people.  We’ll unpack them, talk about them, and put them back together in a way that makes sense to you.

And I’ve picked the perfect instructor for you.  He’s got experience in public speaking, marketing, writing, publishing, and even the body-mind connection.

That’s me, Adam Cole!

MEETING 1

How to Spend Our Time

We waste most of our time practicing things that don't need to be practiced.  What should we be working on?

We'll save the most amount of time getting our routine in order.

It begins with maximizing your strengths and shoring up your weaknesses.  When we organize our time around that, we are at our most efficient and most effective.

At the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to:

  • Prioritize your time for maximum effectiveness
  • Learn key strategies like beginning with the end in mind and big picture, small stories
  • Create a workable plan to reach your stated goal in the least amount of time

MEETING 2

Presenting With Ease

You should be able to play, speak or present in front of a group of people without crumbling, whispering or apologizing.

For a lot of people, this simple task seems out of reach.  It doesn’t have to be.

A few fundamentals can pave the way.

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Manage your nerves before and during a performance
  • Identify your biggest fears and have a plan to deal with them
  • Know how to practice efficiently and effectively

MEETING 3

Presenting With Even More Ease

Now you can get up in front of people.  “Still feels icky, though.  Can we make it pleasant?  Fun?”

By taking a little time to examine ourselves as we play, we can make important changes to the way we breathe, stand, and even look at our audience.

This is where some of my somatic training with the Feldenkrais Method can be put to use to give you a powerful advantage.

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to

  • Make changes in the way you breathe before, during and after a performance
  • Get insights into the way you use your body with your instrument
  • Have a method for getting yourself together in any stressful situation

MEETING 4

Improving Our Self-image

You’ve had a chance to examine yourself in situations that used to terrify you.  Now we’re going to use what you’ve learned to start re-writing your internal monologue.

You can go through all the exercises in the world.  Ultimately, when you’re ready to change the way you think about yourself, this is where you’re going to feel a difference.

But how do you get there?

At the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to:

  • Use your improved performance skills to describe who you were, who you are, and where you want to be.
  • Assess what you’ve learned about yourself to focus on key areas for improvement
  • Access your new abilities to make that improvement.

MEETING 5

Marketing - Elevator Pitches

Everybody has to sell themselves.  Some people are good at it.

The classic elevator pitch is that you have 10 seconds to tell someone in an elevator what you do so that they know your strengths and want to hire you.

Could you do that?

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to

  • Articulate your strengths as a performer
  • Integrate those with other talents you may have undervalued
  • Learn a few key speaking techniques so that you can say who you are succinctly and accurately

MEETING 6

Marketing  - Reaching Your Key Audience

What makes the marketing course in this segment different from all the other courses? The path you just took to get here.

You’ve had a chance to examine your practicing skills, your speaking skills, your relationship with your body and mind.  You know who you are and what you want.  What a toolbox!

Now we can talk about some of the basics of marketing, or even some of the high-end skills you may have learned in another course.  You’ll find you approach them very differently now.

At the end of this lesson you’ll be able to:

  • Identify your niche
  • Promote to your specific audience in a way that reaches them
  • Design materials and activities that reflect who you are and what you want to say

MEETING 7

Marketing and Growth

By learning to market yourself, you also open yourself to deeper personal growth.

The fact is that marketing is a process — a verb, not a noun.  And carrying on with it requires the exact skills you’ve been building:  The ability to examine yourself at regular intervals, to see how you’ve changed, and to see what needs to be adjusted in light of that change.

At the end of this lesson, you’ll be able to:

  • Determine what’s working for you and what isn’t professionally
  • Create a long-term plan for success
  • Commit to re-dedication of your growth by finding additional resources for further development

MODULE 8

Learn Basic Blues Piano

What?

Yes, I mean it!

This is my way of taking you a tiny bit out of your comfort zone, making you laugh and smile, and helping you find out you can do something you never thought you could.

And if you play piano?  I guarantee you’ve never played it this way before!

It's liberating to be able to improvise, and you'll learn some principles that will enhance everything you're doing.

All you’ll need is a keyboard, even a cheap one, and if you can’t get that, you can still watch because you’re going to want to buy one after this!

At the end of this lesson you’ll be able to:

  • Improvise a blues solo
  • Play a simple piece of music in front of people
  • Know some of the secrets behind music performance!

MEETING 9

Can We Do That Again?

This is your chance to request a do-over or a deeper dive into any of the topics we’ve covered over the last eight meetings.

Maybe we went too fast over a particular topic.  Maybe you got completely turned on by something we learned and you want to know more.

This lesson will give each participant a chance to express their interest.  Depending on the group consensus, we’ll either pick a topic or do a round-robin!

At the end of this lesson you’ll be able to:

  • Follow your independent interest in a topic to the next level

MEETING 10

Now What?

You’ll never be alone again.

This is the moment where we all take a look around at our new neighborhood…and our new neighbors!

We’ve all come through an experience.  We’ll unpack it so that everyone can benefit from your insights about what you’ve learned.  Then we’ll talk about next steps.

What you will learn:

  • How you’ve changed
  • What you can offer other people as a changed person
  • Where your people are.

How long are the sessions?

The average session is 75 minutes long. However, some people may have additional questions.  It’s best to schedule two hours whenever possible.

What if I cannot make every session?

Don’t worry, very few people get to all sessions. You’ll just want to be sure you can get to as many of them as possible.

How do we meet?

Via Zoom.

I’ve never done this before.  Is it the right course for me?

The big question you have to ask yourself is whether your reservations about the course come from the content, or from your fear.  If the course sounds like exactly what you’ve been looking for and fear is the only thing stopping you, let’s have a consultation and talk about it!

Do I have to have any experience as a speaker or a writer?

Even people with experience will benefit from this course.  Everyone will be treated as what they are: a person looking to improve at whatever level they’re at.  And did you know that experts can learn from beginners?

Are you serious about that piano thing?

Yes, and you’re going to love it!  I’ve coached people who knew nothing about the piano up in front of audiences and gotten them to play in seconds, smiling the whole time.  I promise to keep you safe, and I promise you’ll know exactly how you did it!

I hate writing and I refuse to be on video.  Will the course still benefit me?

Probably not.

In order for the course to work, you’ll want to go through the process.

I know most of the things you’re offering to teach.  Will this course still benefit me?

Whatever we know fills up the whole of our sense of self.  We think we’ve got it all until a crisis hits.  But you don’t have to wait for a crisis.  Instead you can start the process and find out what things you thought you knew that are sketchier than you thought. That experience can be scary,  so I consider my job to make sure the process is gentle, useful and fun.

Is there homework?  Do I have to do it?

In order to really learn something, you have to take the new thing you’ve discovered into your world and use it.  Otherwise, you’ll have a nice experience and then it will vanish into the wind.  Is that the best use of your time?

Is there support in between modules?

Yes. I have a private Facebook group where you can ask me anything and talk with your fellow attendees.

I also pair attendees up because I find this accelerates learning and makes the whole process more enjoyable.

I don’t want a partner, is it ok for me to work alone?

I prefer people to have an accountability partner, but if there’s some reason you cannot do that such as time zone issues, I’m sure we can figure something else out.

Can I choose my partner if I know somebody on the course?

Absolutely, if they want to work with you.

I know the launch doesn’t start yet, but can I book my place now?

Not at the early bird price, but if you join my mailing list, I will make sure you are made well aware of the launch date.

I’d really like to speak with you before I commit, Adam.  Is that ok?

Of course!  Let’s have a consultation!

Please be aware though, I will take people on a first-come, first-served basis
